Costs and related info

Unlike many other projects, the volunteering work itself is 100% free, however for your food and accommodation whilst staying at Uganda Lodge we charge just £140 per person/per week. This can be negotiable if you stay for an extended period. However please bear in mind when asking about this, that ALL profits stay within the project and help to upgrade facilities for both villagers and future guests.

We can achieve this because we do not currently charge any marketing or registration fees; all the background work is done for free. However we do ask for at least two weeks to be paid as a deposit to prevent the staff and community in general being disappointed over non-arrivals. All airport pickup fees and sightseeing tours must also be paid in advance.

An optional fully inclusive 3-day safari to Queen Elizabeth National Park will cost £330 each with a minimum of four sharing. For other safaris such as Murchison Falls or Jinja, vehicle hire with a driver is approximately £60 per day plus fuel and driver expenses and this can be shared between several guests. Day trips and overnight trips to other places of interest can also be organised. We can usually obtain gorilla permits at a total cost of £700 for one person including the purchase of a permit and an inclusive 2-day safari from Ruhanga or a total cost of about £600- for two people. NOTE: these must be requested and paid for well in advance of your stay in Uganda.

You are also welcome to bring some extra money with you to donate, perhaps from a fund-raising event, that, with some consultation, you can spend on a project of your own choice as you and the project see a need. If this money is first channelled through our UK charity bank account we can often claim an extra 25% through the Gift Aid Scheme.
