Your accommodation
At the end of your rewarding day, relax in our comfortable accommodation. All rooms have hot and cold running showers, beds with fresh linen, kettles, electricity and mosquito nets. Then, during the evening, visit our well stocked bar where you can play pool, watch television and films whilst sitting around a roaring fire!
Those who volunteer with us stay in accommodation at Uganda Lodge which is set within its own grounds in the rolling hills of south-west Uganda next to our school. The lodge, which can be seen in the video to your left, offers a range of bungalow type accommodation catering for up to around 35 volunteers at any one time in shared or separate rooms (please note: during busy periods single accommodation may be limited.) Facilities include hot and cold running showers in each room, 240v electric points (UK style), fresh linen and mosquito nets as well as a kettle. For a small courtesy payment, lodge staff can wash clothes though not your ‘smalls’!
Within the lodge there is a bar stocked with a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic refreshments and a pool table for relaxing around a real fire after a busy, but rewarding day.
Three meals are served each day including a cooked breakfast as well as afternoon tea. Food is of a traditional Ugandan local type with fish or meat being served a few times a week however there is a western style cafe/restaurant in nearby Ntungamo that serves dishes such as chicken and chips etc for those seeking a wider choice. There are other bars and restaurants in that town as well. We can cater for vegetarians ~ just let us know of any particular requirements you have.
The accommodation is ideal for those wanting to hill-walk and see more of the locality as well as simply relaxing in the all year round sunshine ~ albeit with burst of rain! We can also organise trips and tours from safaris to mountain gorilla trekking as well as to local beauty spots such as Lake Bunyonyi ~ most of these can be arranged whilst you stay in Uganda, although some, such as gorilla trekking need to be arranged and paid for in advance as permits are required. Find out more about your accommodation by visiting Uganda Lodge’s own website here.
