MAKE A DIFFERENCE
You can make a real difference working with children and young people in a rural community in south-west Uganda …
.. and, unlike many other volunteer projects, volunteering with us is 100% free ~ you just pay for your accommodation and travel!
Voluteers have been working in this traditional rural community in South-West Uganda since 2007. From small beginnings there is now a subsidised nursery and primary school (Ruhanga Development Nursery & Primary School) for some 450 children aged 3 to 16 years who would otherwise receive little or no education. There is a small not-for-profit guest house – Uganda Lodge – Owned and managed by a local businessman, Denis Aheirwe, enabling visitors and volunteers to stay in the area and undertake volunteer work both at the school and in the wider community.
Ruhanga is a friendly community which welcomes volunteers with warmth, and, because our volunteer project is free with costs being limited to accommodation and food only (we don’t even charge any admin fees or run offices in the UK or elsewhere), its rapidly becoming one of the most popular destinations of choice for volunteers from the UK and further afield for volunteer work in Uganda with our project being open to anyone world-wide who is fluent in English.
As well as undertaking volunteer work, those who stay with us for either short, medium or long term placements, can join in one of our many locally planned tours and safaris from Lake Bunyonyi to mountain gorilla trekking to the Queen Elizabeth National Park and see the real Africa! You can even camp next to the Ishasha river on the border of Congo and spend the night with hippos and baboons ~ a once in a lifetime experience!
We accept volunteers of all ages and backgrounds, so why not sign up today and make a life changing difference both for yourself and our community.
Agandi!
